Another summer means another summer camp week. This year we went back to where I spent my summers. Camp Cherokee is now Trevor Rees Jones Scout Camp, but it's still a small patch of East Texas beauty reserved for Scouts to enjoy.
With 20 Scouts and 5 adults, we had a full contingent and lots to keep busy with. The first couple of days were rainy, but that quickly gave way to the most humid, steamy patch of outdoors north of the Amazon Basin. Regardless, everyone had a great time working on merit badges and rank advancement. Logan, this year as the true SPL for the Troop, had his entire senior staff in attendance and they set the tone for a great week and what is sure to be a fantastic Scout year ahead. Daily flag ceremonies, duties, assignments, Order of the Arrow ceremonies, routines, and of course fun, made for a well-rounded week. Landon got to work on a fair number of merit badges this week including welding, leatherwork, and basketry as well as some Eagle-required badges. A lot to do in a mere 6 days!
